Technical Manager
Greencore · Boston, Lincolnshire
Our estimate of how close this role sits to decisions about what gets sourced, specified, bought and served. How we score
Why this role matters
Where the work sits relative to real sourcing and menu decisions.
This role sits inside real technical governance - HACCP compliance, BRC certification, customer specification sign-off, and audit programmes for a site supplying major UK retailers. The products made at this site are ready to eat salads, prepared vegetables and snacks, so the direct lever here does not touch meat, dairy, egg or seafood sourcing decisions where farmed animal welfare is at stake. The value of a role like this is mainly as a bridge: it builds genuine technical credibility, BRC and HACCP fluency, retailer relationships and specification literacy that could carry into a technical or quality role at a business handling animal-derived products, where those same skills would sit much closer to welfare-relevant decisions.

How to position yourself
The language that lands with hiring managers in this kind of role.
Frame your interest around food safety governance, specification compliance and retailer relationship management - the skills this role sharpens (HACCP, BRC certification delivery, audit programme ownership, root cause analysis) are exactly what technical and quality functions across the food industry look for, including in categories closer to animal welfare and sustainability agendas.
