Why this role matters

How close this job is to real sourcing and menu decisions.

Aldi buys meat, dairy and eggs at a scale few organisations can match, and this role sits inside the team that turns sustainability commitments into supplier requirements and monitored compliance. The advert names animal welfare reporting, antibiotics use, welfare certification audits and Red Tractor as areas of focus, and the role uses Aldi's product and supplier approval systems to check adherence to standards. That means a person here could be the one flagging where supplier practice falls short of commitments Aldi has already signed up to, and pushing for correction. It also builds real fluency in the regulatory architecture reshaping food supply chains (EUDR, CSRD, UK reformulation targets), which is exactly the vocabulary someone needs to move into more senior supplier-standards or category sustainability seats later. This is not a role that sets Aldi's welfare policy, but it is one where you administer and monitor it in practice, across a supply chain large enough that small shifts in supplier compliance affect what ends up on shelves and the standards behind it, from animal welfare to wider sustainability reporting.

How to position yourself

The language that works with hiring managers for this kind of job.

Frame your interest around regulatory compliance and risk management - Aldi needs this role to keep pace with EUDR, CSRD and UK reporting obligations, and animal welfare KPIs sit within that compliance picture. Lead with experience in certification schemes, supplier data management or stakeholder coordination, and mention any exposure to welfare certification audits, Red Tractor or similar assurance schemes as a direct match to the desirable criteria.
