NPD Placement Student
Stateside Foods Limited · Westhoughton, Bolton
Bridge roleThis employer isn't a food business, so the role won't decide what food gets bought. It builds the knowledge, credibility and contacts people use to move into a role that does.

Why this role matters
How close this job is to real sourcing and menu decisions.
Chilled pizza is a category where cheese and meat toppings are standard, so the NPD process this placement touches, product specs, taste panels, factory trials, sits near decisions about what ingredients a manufacturer sources and at what standard, even if a student placement won't set policy on them. The real value here is exposure: you'd see how a manufacturer moves a product from concept to retailer shelf, how specs get written, and how Technical, Quality, Purchasing and Commercial functions negotiate what goes into a product. That fluency, in NPD process, retailer briefs and factory sign-off, is exactly what someone needs later to argue credibly for higher-welfare or more sustainable ingredient choices from inside a product development seat, rather than from outside it.
