Why this role matters

Where the work sits relative to real sourcing and menu decisions.

Hilton Food Group packs meat, fish and seafood for major retailers, and this role manages the audit system that decides whether their supplier sites actually meet the standards they've signed up to. You would schedule and calibrate the audits, communicate major issues raised to stakeholders, and help develop and review the supplier standards and Factory Standards those audits are measured against — which means a hand on what gets checked on farms and processing sites supplying meat and seafood, and what happens when a supplier falls short. It's a step removed from setting final policy, since you're supporting a Global Executive Director for Quality rather than owning the strategy yourself, but the audit protocol you help write and enforce is exactly the mechanism through which welfare commitments either get checked or get missed. This is a genuine base from which to move into a Quality Director or Group Standards seat with direct authority over what those standards say.

About the role

This is a senior manager role within Hilton Food Group's Quality function, responsible for the Group's supplier approval and audit systems across its meat and seafood supply chains. The postholder manages the Group Audit team, ensuring auditors are trained to the audit protocol and Supplier Standards criteria, manages the scheduling of supplier audits across all key areas, and ensures calibration of auditors is carried out to agreed protocol. They communicate major issues raised in audits to key stakeholders to ensure appropriate risk-minimising action is taken, and lead the development and review of supplier standards in collaboration with the business regions. The role requires a good understanding of all food safety global standards and relevant legislation, and includes supporting new businesses in adopting Foods Connected and Hilton Foods' supplier management policies, supporting new supplier visits and audits, and supporting Factory Standards development and review, including auditing Hilton Foods sites against Standard requirements. The postholder also supports updates to internal policies, guidelines and customer standards to keep internal and external standards aligned, supports the Global Executive Director for Quality and regional Quality Directors on specific projects and initiatives, manages quality projects to timescale, and manages and develops relationships with site management teams and suppliers. Essential requirements are a degree or equivalent training, Lead Auditor training, a minimum of two years in a relevant industry role, strong attention to detail, strong communication and influencing skills, ability to write detailed and accurate reports, a pragmatic approach, and fluent English.
