Why this role matters

How close this job is to real sourcing and menu decisions.

Domino's buys large volumes of cheese, meat toppings and other ingredients, but this role as advertised is about coordinating carbon, waste, packaging and governance programmes, with responsible sourcing named only as one strand among many. There's no indication in this advert that the postholder sets supplier standards or buying criteria for meat and dairy - the lever here is organisational and communicative, not a pen on a spec. What it does offer is a genuine seat inside a major food company's sustainability function, with visibility across franchise partners, suppliers and logistics providers - exactly the kind of cross-functional credibility that can be parlayed into a more proximate role, such as one with explicit responsible sourcing or category ownership, a few years on. That kind of role is where decisions about supplier standards, climate impact and sourcing criteria actually get made.

Where this role can take you

What this job teaches you, and the jobs it can lead to.

Where it can lead

  • Responsible Sourcing Manager
  • Sustainability Manager
  • Head of Sustainability

These roles more often carry direct ownership of supplier standards and sourcing criteria, including for meat, dairy and other ingredients, giving more direct leverage over sourcing and sustainability requirements.

About the role

Domino's Pizza (UK & Ireland) is hiring a Sustainability Lead based in Milton Keynes, reporting into the Director of Sustainability and working alongside the Sustainable Financial Reporting Manager. The role sits where sustainability strategy becomes action: coordinating projects and environmental improvement programmes spanning carbon reduction, waste, packaging, resource efficiency and responsible sourcing, and tracking progress against objectives and action plans. The postholder will work across corporate teams, franchise partners, suppliers, logistics providers and store colleagues, developing communications, case studies and briefings that make complex sustainability topics clear and practical. A further strand of the role is strengthening governance: supporting environmental management systems aligned with ISO 14001, coordinating sustainability governance, and contributing to sustainability content for the Group Annual Report, website and other internal and external communications. Essential requirements include experience in a sustainability, environmental, ESG or corporate responsibility role; a good understanding of sustainability principles and emerging ESG trends; awareness of environmental legislation and environmental management systems; confidence coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities; strong written, verbal and presentation skills; and experience preparing governance papers, presentations, meeting materials or Board documentation. An ISEP qualification is not essential but beneficial, as is knowledge of retail, hospitality, food service, logistics or franchise environments, and experience supporting environmental management systems. The role is permanent, full-time, Band F, based at the Milton Keynes support office.</role_summary> <parameter name="builds_skills">["Cross-functional sustainability project coordination", "ESG governance and Board reporting", "ISO 14001 environmental management exposure", "Stakeholder engagement across franchise and supplier networks", "Sustainability communications and case-study writing"]

How to position yourself

The language that works with hiring managers for this kind of job.

Frame your interest around turning sustainability strategy into practical delivery - project coordination, stakeholder management across franchise partners and suppliers, and translating ESG topics into governance papers and board materials are exactly what this role asks for. Worth building familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management systems (named in the advert) and, if you can, the ISEP qualification it flags as beneficial.
